Egyptian President Abdel-Fatah El-Sisi opened on Wednesday the new Phosphatic and Compound Fertilizers Complex in Ain Sokhna, in the eastern governorate of Suez, the largest plant of its kind in North Africa.
The new complex, which was built over 168 hectares within 36 months, includes nine factories, an administrative and a residential city, and a mineral storage area.
The establishment of the complex aims to maximize the value of Egyptian rock phosphate by converting it into phosphate fertilizer, the Chairman of the El-Nasr Chemical Products Company, Mokhtar Abdel-Latif, said during the opening ceremony.
Abdel-Latif explained that this industry will annually process 500,000 tons of raw sulfur and two million tons of raw phosphate to produce fertilizers.
