Certis technical officer Alan Horgan says the herbicide contains pelargonic acid and maleic hydrazide, providing growers with an alternative following the demise of a number of key herbicides from the sector.
He said: "Approved for outdoor use Ultima offers action against a wide range of both annual and perennial, grass and broad-leaved weed problems delivering fast control.
"Ultima can be used on ornamental and amenity vegetation areas and any natural surfaces not intended to bear vegetation, as well as to pathways for the control of algae and moss.
It has no detrimental effect on lignified wood so may be used to treat open areas where tree growth and woody stems are present.
The product has no LERAP requirement so it has no restriction on use near water.
The label dose rate of Ultima is 3.4l in 20 litres with two applications permitted per year.
