BrownfieldAgNews reports that the European process for approving biotech crops may be in for some changes that could open the door to more acres of biotech crops being planted in Europe.
According to Reuters, the EU is considering whether to let individual countries make the decision of whether or not to grow genetically modified crops. Under the proposal, countries could proceed without the need for the EU parliament to weigh in on the final decision.
Environmentalists are reportedly up in arms over the plan. They are already riled over the EUs approval of a biotech potato in March.
