Pesticide exports grew nearly two-fold to Rs 8,978.15 crore in 2008-09, the Lok Sabha was informed.
India exported 1,84,737 tonnes of pesticides valued at Rs 8,978.15 crore in 2008-09, Minister of State for Agriculture K V Thomas said in a written reply.
In comparison, the country had exported 96,268 tonnes of pesticides valued at Rs 4,841.14 crore in 2007-08, he said.
In 2006-07, 1,08,092 tonnes of pesticides valued at Rs 3,089.48 crore were exported, he added.
The minister said the variation in demand from importing nations was the reason for fluctuation in pesticide exports during the three years.
