Chinese Fertilizer & Pesticide Gross Output Approached￥590 bn 2009

2009, China fertilizer production broke through 60 million tonnes, and 2.26 million tonnes for pesticides, rose by 12.3%, price generally remained the same with the previous year. Annual production value approached 590 billion Yuan. Gross output of chemical pesticide manufacturing industry reached 132.03 billion Yuan, rose by 4.4% comparing with the some period previous year. The development of agrochemical industry makes great contribution to both domestic supply and market price, nevertheless, the problem, such as overcapacity has become highlighted.

Big problems of agrochemical industry:

1. Overcapacity and disordered investment; the investment yet speeds up regardless of overcapacity problem, with phosphate investment increased by 67.8%, and pesticide manufacturing over 30%. 2. Slow market demand and difficult business operation; by the rise in international oil price, cost increase still troubles the enterprises. 3. Increasing import and frustrated export; according to customs statics, the export volume of chemical fertilizer declined by 14% in 2009.
