Is Cyproconazole about to enter the Chinese market?

The worldwide growth and purchase of Cyproconazole is enormous. Its global sales almost hit the mark of $595 million in the year 2014 and the annual growth of the last years described an increase of 24.4%. More and more Chinese pesticides producer are recognizing this fungicide. The question is not if the product will enter the Chinese market, but when.
There are three requirements in China to fulfil, before being allowed to manufacture Cyproconazole. These requirements must be achieved in the form of certificates: production license, criteria certificate, and registration certificate. Not one Chinese company has been issued all three of the certificates yet. There are a few companies, which already got some of the certificates, like Sichuan Huaying Chemical the production license and Jiangsu Fengdong Crop Science the registration certificate, according to CCM’s research. So, in mid-November this year, no enterprise in China is allowed to produce and sell Cyproconazole.
There are three companies, that have announced to launch Cyproconazole projects in the near future. These are Jiangsu Flag Chemical Industry, Jiangsu Sword Agrochemical and Jiangsu Fenghua Chenacal with an annual forecasted production of 500t, 500t and 300t respectively.
The fungicide Cyproconazole has a large use for crop protection worldwide. It is mostly effective against powdery mildew, loose smut, head smut, snow mold, take-all, dwarf bunt, leaf blotch and sheath blight. The protected plants are wheat, barley, oat, rye, corn, sorghum, beet, apples, pear, coffee bean and turf grass.
One of the reasons, why Cyproconazole has not yet registered to China is the high toxicity of it. The degradation life after the application is very long and it also inherits poisonous effect to aquatic life. The fungicide is also part of a list with pesticides, that should be replaced because of toxic effects to human, published by the European Commission. In this list Cyproconazole is marked as a pesticide with reproductive toxicity, which means that it is assumed to do harm on the human reproduction ability, both to men and women.
What’s more, Jiangsu Chengyang CropScience, a Chinese fungicide manufacturer, had declared patent rights on Cyproconazole intermediate on 26 Oct. this year. The patent includes the structured alkoxy propylene derivative, the preparation method of the derivative and the method for making 1-(4-Chlorophenyl)-2-Cyclopropylpropanon-1 using the derivative, according to CCM.
