EU to extend more provisional approvals

The EU has once again had to extend provisional approvals for new active ingredients to allow more time for the registration process to be completed. Extensions for up to two years for Nippon Soda's fungicide, cyflufenamid, Ishihara's Sangyo Kaisha's insecticide, flonicamid, and Societe Occitane de Fabrications's (SOF) fungicide, FEN 560, were cleared by the EU Standing Committee on the Food Chain and Animal Health in December. Certis Europe is developing cyflufenamid for use on cereals and holds approvals in the UK, as Cyflamid, and Belgium, as Nissodium. Flonicamid is approved for use on fruit and vegetables in several EU countries, as Teppeki. FEN 560 is based on a seed powder of fenugreek and was developed by French company SOF, as Fenugrec.
