Nunhems announced today a new, innovative seed treatment package for U.S. onion growers that will help them reduce the risk of early season disease, giving seedlings a healthier start.

Dubbed “The Complete Package,” this proprietary treatment package combines the well-known effectiveness of Thiram and Allegiance® with the market-leading performance of Coronet®, a newly introduced BASF product available exclusively on onions through Nunhems.

"This package truly represents the latest in seed technology,” said Nunhems Onion Crop Sales Manager John Erb. “We’re pleased to offer our customers a treatment option that can have such a significant impact on their yields and their bottom line.”

The Total Package of Thiram, Allegiance and Coronet provides the most comprehensive disease control package available for both seed- and soil-borne pathogens that affect onion seed and seedlings. This combination works together very effectively given each fungicide’s individual attributes:

> Thiram is a broad-spectrum fungicide that helps reduce losses from damping-off and seedling blights often caused by seed borne and soil borne organisms.
> Allegiance provides very good Pythium damping-off control and is effective against systemic downy mildew.

>Coronet is a new product from BASF that is exclusively offered on Nunhems Onion genetics. Coronet provides control of early season Pythium and Rhizoctonia, and excellent control of seed borne Botrytis.

Due to the many advantages of Thiram, Allegiance & Coronet, Nunhems will no longer be applying FarMore D300 to its onion seed. In addition, third party enhancement companies will not be able to apply the new treatment combination at this time.
