A new specific off-label approval (SOLA) is available for use on vegetable crops such as beetroot, carrot, horseradish, parsley root and parsnip. Growers of root vegetables can now use
Switch (cyprodinil and
fludioxonil).
The SOLA, 2649/2009, means that the products can be used as a horticultural fungicide for the control of Alternaria and Sclerotinia on a range of specified outdoor root crops.
Growers are being advised by the Horticultural Development Company to use the product as a protectant spray early in the crop cycle. They should also test a small area of crop before using it on a commercial scale. It is recommended that use of the product is alternated with non-anilinopyrimidine-containing products as part of a fungicide spray programme.
