Bayer CropScience today announces a reorganization of its business, with a new strategic direction to position the company for continued profitability and growth. This is consistent with Bayer CropScience’s global strategy, focused on future innovations and opportunities. The first phase was the appointment of the senior management team under the direction of
Kamel Beliazi, Bayer CropScience Inc., Canada’s recently appointed President and CEO.
Al Driver has been appointed to a newly created role of VP Marketing & Business Development. Mr Driver will be responsible for portfolio management based on an integrated crop strategy including market development & product management. Also residing within his team will be business intelligence and communications.
Rob Schultz has been appointed to a newly created role of Director of Sales Western Canada. In this role Mr Schultz will be responsible for the sales regions and staff across Western Canada including InterAg (retail distribution), targeted customer strategy, customer service and line company management.
Paul Thiel has been appointed to a newly created role as VP Innovation & Public Affairs. In this new role, Mr. Thiel will be responsible for crop protection research & development, regulatory, government & public affairs and industry relations.
Rod Merryweather will continue his role as N.A. Oilseed Business Operations Manager, where he will be responsible for the North America canola seed & trait division.
Completing the senior management team will be
Curtis Bunz, Canadian Legal Counsel,
Jonathan Crapo as Director of Finance & Administration,
Stan Prokopchuk as Director of IOP and Supply Chain and
Nicole Davis as Director of Human Resources.
These changes become effective October 1, 2009.

At an operational level, Bayer CropScience will move towards a more cross-functional approach for their products, aligning their Crop Protection and BioScience businesses through Integrated Crop Platforms focusing on Cereals and Oilseed in Western Canada and Horticulture and Row Crop in Eastern Canada. This new structure progresses a new mindset for Bayer CropScience, advancing the business from a technology provider to a customer focused solutions provider, and creating better value for retailers and growers.
