Bayer CropScience and the Brazilian agricultural research foundation, Fundacao Chapadao, have opened a laboratory in Brazil. It will diagnose the main plant diseases in the country, covering crops such as soybeans, maize, cotton, beans and sugar cane, the Fundacao Chapadao says. "We are working towards extending the laboratorys work from January 2008 to include diagnosis of nematodes on soybeans and other major crops," the foundations executive director, Edson Borges, says. The Brazilian soybean agricultural research corporation, the Embrapa Soja, will collaborate on work at the facility. The partnership has invested R$74,000 ($42,000) in the project.
