India has restricted the use of two pesticides because of health and environmental concerns. The organophosphate insecticide/acaricide, diazinon, has been banned for agricultural use, though it may still be used for household purposes. Companies that manufacture diazinon-based products will have to add the warning "banned for use on agriculture" to their products' labels. The other restricted pestcide is dazomet, a soil fumigant with fungicidal/herbicidal properties. It has been banned for use in tea and labels on products containing dazomet will have to proclaim the fact.

Companies that manufacture the two products have been given six months to return their registration certificates to the Ministry of Agriculture's registration committee for amendment. Diazinon and dazomet were two of 37 ais under review in India because they had been restricted in other countries.
