Exosect submits additional ais to EU for stored commodity biopesticide

United KingdomExosect Ltd announced its submission of an Aluminium silicate (Kaolin) dossier to EU regulators as an additional active ingredient in support of its biopesticide formulation (Bb38, Beauveria bassiana) for the protection of stored commodities.
At the end of 2014, Exosect submitted a dossier for an isolate of the entomopathogenic fungus, Beauveria bassiana, to the European Regulatory Authorities to support the approval of the isolate as a mycoinsecticide.
“Kaolin provides synergistic properties when used in combination with other co-formulants for the control of insect pests found in grain stores” comments Rob Cannings, Exosect’s Business Development Director. He continues “Whilst Kaolin is already registered as a repellent for use in plant protection products, this recent discovery demonstrates that Kaolin has a control effect when used in this formulation”.
Under the EU plant protection products regulation 1107/2009EC, all ingredients that claim control have to have separate approvals issued for use. Exosect has secured patent approval for its new biopesticide in the UK in 2014 and other territories are expected soon.
