A newly registered herbicide from Syngenta, Flexstar GT, is specifically formulated to control weeds that have developed or are likely to develop resistance to glyphosate and/or ALS-inhibitors in glyphosate-tolerant (GT) soybeans. A premix of fomesafen and glyphosate, Flexstar GT reduces the selection pressure on weeds, helping to delay resistance development.
Flexstar GT contains Isolink II Technology, a unique adjuvant system designed to optimize both the contact activity of fomesafen and the systemic activity of glyphosate while reducing crop response. Flexstar GT applied post-emergence controls the same annual weeds as glyphosate, plus several glyphosate- and ALS-resistant broadleaf weeds such as Palmer amaranth, waterhemp and ragweed. It also controls troublesome weeds such as morningglory and velvetleaf that are often difficult for glyphosate alone. In addition, Flexstar GT offers pre-emergence activity on more than 25 broadleaf weeds including Palmer amaranth, pigweed, ragweed and yellow nutsedge when applied as a preplant burndown treatment.
