In what AUDACE -- a "Pan-European association of farmers and distributors of plant health products and veterinary medicines working together against dysfunctional factors adversely affecting the market," which advocates the use of generic crop protection products -- calls a "significant victory against the commercial strategy led by Monsanto since 1995," the European Commission has decided to suspend anti-dumping duties on imports of Chinese glyphosate.
Decision 2009/383/CE was made by the European Commission on May 14, 2009, to suspend the definitive anti-dumping duties imposed by Council Regulation (EC) No 1683/2004 on imports of glyphosate originating in China.
Following a long procedure during which AUDACE and Monsanto were able to put forward their arguments, the Commission considered that "the interest of European agriculture justified the suspension of the antidumping measure aimed at imports of Chinese glyphosate," says AUDACE.
