The South African generic agrochemical company, Volcano AgroScience (Durban), has entered into a partnership agreement with the Cape-based fruit, grapevine and cereal crop protection products distributor, Nexus (Paarl). The deal will give Cape farmers a wider range of products suitable for high-value crops, the companies say. Such crops are grown in the region, as the Cape covers the country's profitable wine and citrus fruit producing area.
Volcano is a joint venture between Arysta LifeScience and Strand Agroscience Investment Holdings. "Distribution partnerships with strong local collaborators allow us to provide more growers access to important crop protection solutions," Arysta LifeScience South Africa's president, Eric Barbedette, says. Volcano opened a new plant in September to introduce a new technology and boost production capacity.
