Norwegian-based fertilizer company Yara International will permanently close its 250,000 metric ton (MT) per year NPK fertilizer plant in Kedainiai, Lithuania, which it obtained in last year’s acquisition of Kemira GrowHow. Yara called it an “old, sub-scale” plant with “no competitive advantage,” citing the land-locked plant’s lack of access to competitively priced raw materials.
Due to weak markets, Yara will temporarily close a 300,000 MT/year NPK unit in Ravenna, Italy.
